The Synology RX1217 12-Bay Storage Expansion Unit sports 12 hot-swappable drive bays so you can expand your Synology RackStation's storage capacity. The RX1217 connects to your Synology RackStation via an included Infiniband cable, which helps ensure maximum data throughputs. For expansion, each of the bays is capable of holding a single 2.5" hard drive, 3.5" hard drive, or 2.5" SSD. Other notable features include three 80mm fans that cool your drives and the RX1217. Moreover, a 500W power supply is on board to power the unit and drives. Volume Expansion & Backup When drive capacity is running low on a Synology RackStation, the Synology RX1217 offers an easy way to immediately expand storage by providing 12 additional drive slots. The RAID volume on the Synology RackStation can be expanded directly without having to reformat the existing hard drives, ensuring service continuity during the expansion process.When created as a separate volume, the Synology RX1217 also serves as an additional local backup destination for Synology RackStations.
